    [solved]Device Automation Editor? v 10.2 Empty [solved]Device Automation Editor? v 10.2

hello all - we just got Kapow installed yesterday and our first task is for a proof of concept that involves interacting with a mainframe terminal application.  So we have been looking at using the Device Automation service and are initially just looking to make Kapow talk to the remote machine.  In the documentation there are several references to the Device Automation Editor.

Does anyone know where this actually is?  We looked at every option in the Design Studio, the device automation service after installing that, and in the management console.  If it is a separately installed application, what installs it?  I downloaded everything I was allowed to from Kofax.  We do have the Device Automation license.

This is version 10.2  (not an upgrade)

You will need to add a Device Automation step in your robot:

Insert → Action Step → Device Automation (3rd Option from the list, or browse to All → Device Automation).

After you Define your Input Value(s), Output Mapping(s) and Define Required Devices you then Edit your Workflow.

Note that the Device Automation Workflow Editor is not the same Editor used in Design Studio.  It is fairly easy to get the hang of Device Automation and working with a Terminal Emulator is not difficult.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback.  One thing to keep in minds, Input, Output are optional, not required.  If you are not passing anything into the Device Automation and/or you are not pushing anything from the Device Automation steps you do not need these variable.

We typically have variables that we assign to the Input that the Device Automation then "processes" while working in the Terminal Emulation.
